Hair transplant

Follicular transplantation for pattern hair loss, planned around a finite donor area.

A hair transplant moves follicles from the back and sides of the scalp — where hair is genetically resistant to thinning — to areas where it has been lost. The relocated follicles keep that resistance, which is why transplanted hair is permanent.

What it does not do is stop the loss. Hair that was never transplanted continues to thin on its own schedule, so planning has to account for how your hairline is likely to look in ten years, not only how it looks today. That is why a conservative design and a realistic view of the donor area matter more than the number of grafts quoted.

The two techniques below differ in how follicles are implanted rather than in how they are harvested. Which suits you depends on the area being treated, your hair characteristics and the density you are aiming for — a decision for a clinician after examining your scalp and donor supply.
